Why did this usb fan take third place?
This price is appropriate since the product is very well built. The material is incredibly nice to the touch. It has a great color, which will suit any wallpapers. I liked the design. We’ve been using it for 2 months and it still looks like brand new. It is inconvenient to use due to the size. I am going to get something different next time.

usb fan Buyer’s Guide
Tower Fans
These are the sleek and most modern looking fans with a small and compact footprint and a super airflow. Such fans can be placed in a corner and always blend well with furniture and the floor plants. If placed strategically, the fan would supply the whole room with fresh air effectively. Besides, the oscillation possibility makes it possible for the user to position the fan towards the wanted direction. Furthermore, some of the tower fans have inbuilt ionizers that enhance cleaning of the air too through the attraction of the impure particles.
Pedestal Fans
Of all the other house oscillating fans, the Pedestal Fan is the most powerful and the best choice for a larger room. Most of this type is adjustable in height and tilt to allow the directing of the fan towards the intended direction. Besides, some even have adjustable fan speed as well as the oscillation ranges. As a matter of fact, the pedestal fan type has a large base due to its weight hence needs more floor space.
Floor Fans
Floor fans are among the high-end types meant for heavy duty cooling and are the best substitute for air conditioners. They are built with powerful motors that move a lot of air towards the room hence cools the room quickly. Most of the floor fans are made in different styles that always tend to match the floor décor. They are also having adjustable settings for height and tilt that enables a precise flow of the air as per the wish of the user. Besides cooling the room, they are also the best appliance for drying up the floor after mopping or clearing a spillage.
Misting Fans
Misting fan is another current development in air conditioner technology. These fans are capable of circulating both moisture and air. The fan is connected to a source of water, draws the water, and sprinkles it in very tiny droplets. Even though most of them are designed for outdoor, some are made for inside use. However, for the case of indoor use, it is recommended that they are used in low-humidity climate to enable the evaporation of the moisture before growing to mildew or mold.
Choosing a new laptop is a lot harder than it should be. Every major brand has multiple product lines with overlapping prices and features, and every description is filled with jargon about processors, types of storage, graphics capabilities, screen resolutions and a laundry list of ports and connections. And don’t even get me started on names. Good luck figuring out the meaning behind a Pavilion/Inspiron/XPS/Latitude/Spectre/Envy/ZenBook/Odyssey or any of the others. It’s enough to make you go back to a no. pencil and a composition book.
That’s why we test and review dozens of traditional laptops every year, plus Windows tablets and 2-in-hybrids, and even Chromebooks. This handy buying guide will give you the basic background info you need to add context to those reviews and to make a smart purchase. Of course, if you’re looking to just jump right in, I’ve preselected a handful of my favorite current laptops to highlight. If you ran into me on the street, I’d probably steer you towards one of these as a starting point.
Travel light
Daily or near-daily commutes mean you want something with a 13-inch or smaller display, that weighs under three pounds and is at most around 15mm thick. The new 13-inch MacBook Pro just hits those specs, while systems like the HP Spectre and Acer Swift both dip below 10mm thick.
Kootek Cooler Pad Chill Mat 5
The Kootek Cooler Pad Chill Mat has a silly name. It doesn’t have extra USB ports. But it offers a level of cooling capability that easily surpasses that of every other cooling pad we tested. Internal temperatures dropped more than 30 degrees (a combined average across multiple tests and laptops), and external temperatures were reduced by 1degrees. While air cooling can’t do much to substantially improve performance, this pad does keep things cooler better than its peers, and that’s enough to garner the top spot in our reviews. The pad has an adjustable stand, with angles between 0 and 2degrees, and the whole thing is covered by a generous three-year warranty.
Targus Lap Chill Mat AWE55US
The Targus Lap Chill Mat AWE55US is not the best laptop pad we saw for cooling your laptop; in fact, it reduced internal temperatures by only a degree or two. What it does do, however, is provide a cooling solution that will work on your lap as well as on a table. The wedge-shaped stand has open sides for open airflow and is covered with a soft layer of neoprene for unrivalled comfort when used in bed or while kicked back on a couch. A lot of the heating problems that people experience arise from setting a laptop on a blanket or pillow for casual use, so the Targus is one of the best solutions we’ve seen to the most common overheating problem.
Tree New Bee Cooling Pad TNB-K0025
You probably haven’t heard of Tree New Bee, but the company’s cooling pad is pretty good. It reduced external temperatures by an average of 1degrees Fahrenheit and reduced internal heat by a full 1degrees, making it one of the better coolers we saw for actual cooling.
Unfortunately, it also rattled like an angry snake when we first turned it on, thanks to a slightly warped chassis that caused one fan to strike the cowling on every rotation. A little manual flexing fixed the problem. The feature set is fairly plain, with one extra USB port and an adjustable angle that has two height settings.
Cooler Master NotePal X-Slim
A USB pass-through connection built into the USB power cable means you can still access all of your laptop’s ports, but we wish it offered something in the way of adjustable fan speed. Mercifully, it is one of the few coolers we reviewed that doesn’t light up like a blue glowing Christmas tree when plugged in.
Belkin CoolSpot F5L055
The Belkin CoolSpot is simple, but even in a category in which simplicity is to be expected, this pad is a bit too spartan for our liking. The small laptop cooler is made for laptops up to 1inches in size, and it comes with a single 70-millimeter fan, with no adjustments for speed or angle.
How we picked
Doing this dramatically reduced our pool of potential test hardware, but we still had 1devices to test for this guide’s initial version—seven fans for a large room and five for small personal spaces. Since then, we’ve watched for new products by regularly checking in with manufacturers—reading press releases, emailing contacts, and meeting at trade shows. The most promising contenders have gone up against our picks in some head-to-head testing; many more have been dismissed as competitors.
Pull Quote
The engineers at Intertek said our simple test rig was good enough to get a general idea of each fan’s airflow performance.
The three key metrics for measuring fans’ performance are airflow velocity, air circulation, and noise. We determined those three metrics—and learned how to effectively measure them—in several conversations with engineers at Intertek, an industrial product testing company based in the UK.
Our test space in 201was a small apartment in Boston, where we were able to build a rudimentary wind tunnel out of cardboard and duct tape. The wind tunnel, essentially an oversized duct, measured six feet in length and had a 14-by-14-inch opening on each end. With a fan blowing from one end and a handheld digital anemometer fastened to a microphone stand at the other, we were able to collect some basic airflow and velocity readings. Based on a description, the engineers at Intertek said our simple test rig was good enough to get a general idea of each fan’s airflow performance.
For each fan, we took a series of five velocity readings in feet per minute (fpm): lower left, lower right, upper left, upper right, and center. These figures were then multiplied by the square footage of the duct opening, averaged, and weighted according to the air velocity measurements recommended by engineers at Intertek (loosely described here). This gave us some airflow readings in cubic feet per minute (CFM), which is the standard unit of measurement used by HVAC contractors to determine the volume of air moving through a duct system.
Flaws but not dealbreakers
We have two real complaints and one long-term reliability issue.
First, dusting the surface of the machine or the nooks and crannies of its front grate or back plate is easy, but it’s staggeringly difficult to take apart and give it a thorough cleaning. (To be fair, just about every other tower fan is just as difficult to clean.) You can get in there with a Q-tip and clean out the holes, but it’s still a lot of work. A determined individual posted a step-by-step video on how to do it on YouTube.
Next, on the back of the fan, behind the on board control panel, a plastic hook is designed to hang the remote control. Everything else about the Seville seems so well-considered, but the hook feels like a clunky afterthought. It works well enough so long as the fan’s stationary, but put the remote in your pocket if you plan on picking up the Seville to move it.
Speed and Power of the fan with battery
There are many fans out there, battery operated or not, will have a limit of speeds to choose from. This battery operated personal fan simply gives you more choices so that you can select the strength of air that is being manufactured.

If you’re wondering which Mac to buy, you’ve come to the right place. Here in our Mac buying guide for 2018, you’ll find everything you need to know about Apple’s range of Macs, including the MacBook, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, Mac mini, iMac, iMac Pro and Mac Pro, with expert buying advice to help you choose the Mac that’s right for you.
Apple makes seven different types of Mac, and within each of those categories there are sub categories and variations in the specs and features, so things can get pretty complicated. That’s where this complete guide comes in, helping you make the right decision. If you’re simply looking for a great offer, visit our Mac deals page.
Mac mini specifications
There are three Mac minis available. The cheapest Mac mini has a 1.4GHz dual-core processor and Intel HD Graphics 5000.
The other two Mac minis offer Intel dual-core i2.6GHz and 2.8GHz processors with Intel Iris Graphics. These might sound like fast processors, in comparison to the processors in Apple’s newer MacBook models, but inside these laptop Macs if faster flash storage and newer generation processors, which will give these models a boost.
The Mac mini offers only Intel idual-core processor options as standard, there are iprocessors available at point of sale, but these are still only dual-core.
The Mac mini weighs 1.22kg and the dimensions are 19.7cm by 19.7cm. It’s just 3.6cm tall, so it really is mini as the name suggests.
The top of the range Mac mini has various build to order options, topping out at a 2TB Fusion Drive for an extra £90 when you buy the £94model, you can also add 16GB RAM for an extra £180. Only the top of the range model has this option.
We would recommend the Fusion Drive option as the SSD part of the storage will speed things up considerably, while the extra capacity of the hard drive is likely to come in handy.
Mac Pro specifications
There are two models of Mac Pro available. The first as a 3.5GHz 6-core Intel Xeon Eprocessor, the second has a 3.0GHz 8-core Xeon Eprocessor.
Both Mac Pro models features 16GB RAM (the discontinued quad-core model offered just 12GB RAM).
The £3,89model offers a faster graphics card, the Dual AMD FirePro D700 with 6GB GDDRVRAM each, rather than the Dual AMD FirePro D500 with 3GB. Note that those are dual graphics cards, one of the selling points of the Mac Pro.
Both standard units also feature 256GB flash storage, with build-to-order options for 512GB (£180 extra) or 1TB of flash storage (£540 extra).
Other build-to-order options include 32GB RAM for £360, or 64GB RAM for £1,080. There is a 12-core model available for an extra £1,800.
Most people buying the Mac Pro will be choosing from the various build-to-order options, of which there are many. If you were to build the ultimate Mac Pro it would cost you £6,05- which is a lot, but before Apple dropped prices in 201all the build-to-order options added up to £7,299, so Apple’s price drop saves you £1,240, enough to buy a MacBook too.
You’ll need to invest in a separate screen, unlike the iMac which comes with its built-in 5K display. We have some 4K monitors that you could use with the Mac Pro here.
Ceiling fan
If desk fan have enough space surrounding it blows air properly without any risk of putting some one injured. It also can be palace anywhere wherever you want it.
Ceiling fan need a support to keep its weight and stay wherever you hanged it. If its low space during its movement it easily may injure someone through its blade.
Unique components
Defensive confine – most fans accompany a defensive enclosure, which houses the edges. Fan sharp edges pivot at to a great degree high speeds, which can be a genuine danger to you, your family and your pets, making this element a genuine well being key.
Tilt activity – some fans accompany a tilt capacity, which is awesome for coordinating the cooling wind current precisely where you need it.
Mobile Drum fan
The air throw is a term that is derived from the air velocity and is taken to mean the furthest distance from fan (or other discharge point) where an air velocity of 0.5m/s can be measured. Although very complex to calculate and time-consuming to set up and measure, the general truth is that the greater the velocity from the fan, the greater the air throw.
Fan Mounting on Drum Fans
A simple stand with no wheels is the simplest support, although with a stand you should at least expect a swivel mounting to enable the drum fan to be pivoted to point any angle vertical up, through horizontal to vertical down. The drum fan in this picture has an orbital which means it can be pivoted to point in any direction without moving the stand.
Simple Mobile Drum Fan
When the drum fan casing is fitted with simple wheels and stand without any pivot, the result is a drum fan that is actually very limited and can only discharge on a horizontal plane and to which has to be moved to blow at a different angle.
Mobile orbital drum fan
The more speed settings on a drum fan the better. Some are fixed speed fan i.e. on or off, which is of little use. Most of the drum fans we supply are or speed.
Hi-bred fans
The Broughton VF600 is a notable fan because it is so versatile and does not fall cleanly into any category. As a drum fan it has the highest discharge velocity of the range, it has casters, two of which are braked which is useful, and it has a lockable pivot within its frame. With such a high discharge velocity (nearly 14m/s) it will have more air throw reach for cooling in industrial applications, and would be ideal in photographic studios where a localised but strong wind is required. But with a much higher pressure capability than a normal drum fan, this unit can also be used as a large ventilation fan and can easily push or pull air along a 10m duct. Even when compared with other ventilation fans it is a bit of an oddity as it is larger than other axial type ventilation fans on our range; the next smaller one moves about half the air volume as the VF600! To cap it all it is even available as a 230V or as 110v version.
Trotec TTV series.
The Trotec TTV series fans can be used both as a drum fans or man coolers, or with ducting on, as a ventilator fans. But more than that you can stack them to make a small wind wall, or put on a numerous smaller ducts to deliver air to different spaces.
An often overlooked feature on some ventilation fans is an open base, such as the TTV fans are fitted to. The benefit of this type of frame is that you can connect duct and have it hanging down through a hatch or manhole into a confined space.
Value Section
Ideally, campers like to keep it as natural as they can by traveling light. Many have upgraded from the basics to the high-tech camping experience. Almost every camper’s essentials now include camping fans. They are safe, comfortable and light weight. In some camping areas, a camping fan is a necessity more than a luxury.
Tent Fans
Tent fans are the easiest solutions for cooling a tent. Battery operated tent fans are the most common ones, some have power adaptors with a rechargeable battery but the best ones take normal batteries which you can buy anywhere. Solar tent fans is also an option but the endurance is limited and when you need them the most (daytime) they are sitting outside being charged.
If a fan is not going to do it for you, have a look at our top recommended tent air conditioners.
AGPtek 2-in-tent fan and light
As the name suggest this is a tent fan and light all in one. Its got 1bright, LED lights to light up your tent and runs on 2D cell batteries which will light up your tent for 3hours. The fan will run 50 hours on low speed or 30 hours on the high setting, the light and fan combined will last for1hours. This cool fan is also water resistant.
The WoneNice small fan and mini airconditioner
This fan is a little bit different in the sense that it is a mini evaporative cooler. Like all coolers it works best in dry climates and the manufacture claims it can cool air up to 30 deg F. It can be powered from a USB port or 4xAA batteries, which will last for about hours.
